Holly Jefferys

Holly has been with Food Hygiene Solutions for over 7 years and is now a Company Director.

Carl Challenger BSc MSc MCIEH DipNEBOSH- Senior Environmental Health Consultant

Carl is an Environmental Health Practitioner. He qualified from Kings College London and then worked in Local Government as an Environmental Health Officer for Lewes District Council and the London Borough of Ealing, specialising in food safety and health and safety. He has enjoyed working with food caterers, retailers and manufacturers from a variety of sectors within the industry. He has a NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety & is a registered trainer for Food Safety courses. He has also a wealth of experience having previously worked in the catering industry. Carl is the newest member of the Food Hygiene Solutions Team.

Glen Jefferys

Glen runs our in-house catering and keeps not only our customers but our team in the office well fueled. Her specialties are Victoria Sponge cake & her wonderful homemade soups with accompanying scones. If any of you have been on one of training courses you will have met her and hopefully sampled the wonderful lunches or afternoon teas that she produces. If you have any special dietary requirements Glen makes sure you to will have a very special lunch or sweet treat.

The first and most important thing an individual can do is to become an individual again, decontrol himself, train himself as to what is going on and win back as much independent ground for himself as possible.

Paul Hobbs BSc (Hons) CMCIEH

Upon leaving school at 16 Paul worked in the meat trade in both manufacturing and retail. He studied food technology full time at Smithfield College in London and qualified as an Authorised Meat Inspector. He worked as a Meat Inspector for various local councils and in 1996 trained to become an Environmental Health Officer (EHO). Paul graduated in 2000 and was appointed Principal EHO and Commercial Team Manager for Horsham District Council. In 2004 Paul started consulting for Food Hygiene Solutions and during this time has been involved in a number of projects. Paul has assisted in developing our Health & Safety policies and procedures. Paul is an approved trainer and also delivers health & safety and food Safety courses.

Susan Reed MSc, Dip. EH, CMCIEH, FRSPH

Sue is a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner, specialising in food safety. She worked in Local Government for many years as an Environmental Health Officer, and has now transferred her skills & experience into the private sector. She is a qualified trainer, registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) & Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) to deliver a range of accredited and bespoke courses. In 2012, she achieved distinction in an MSc in Food Safety, Hygiene & Management with the University of Birmingham. She is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health & a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health. She offers consultancy, auditing & training to businesses in the hospitality, retail and manufacturing food industries, and has been working for Food Hygiene Solutions since March 2015.

James Hoskin-Goode

James Hoskin-Goode is a food and safety specialist with nearly two decades of experience across a wealth of local authority and commercial clients, used to monitoring and enforcing a huge variety of practical and legislative issues. With a focus on food safety, James cut his teeth as an environmental health officer at outer London local authorities before cementing this experience at Islington Council, where he was a senior officer for ten years. More recently he gained valuable insight into the commercial world as a technical safety manager and safety business partner at Prêt à Manger, assisting in safety, food policy, procedure and practice of its 400 UK outlets across four regions, as well as being in charge of an overseas launch in Dubai. In addition, he has exposure to the realities of mass public events-based, acting as an independent food safety practitioner at music events including the epic annual festival at Glastonbury, where he was part of a team responsible for protecting the food and welfare of its 150,000 visitors, and water safety compliance at various Festivals across the country. With a PGc in Occupational Health and Safety Management and as a member of the CIEH and IOSH, James maintains his professional credentials as Secretary of the London Food and H&S study groups. Born in Kent, James enjoys country life with family, friends and pets.

Mike Owens-Brookes

An engaging and accomplished Trainer/Consultant and Associate who has devised and delivered a diverse portfolio of training courses with particular specialism in Food Safety, HACCP, Allergens, Health & Safety and Fire Safety. Currently self employed, conducting food hygiene audits, risk assessments, FRA reviews and a variety of a training throughout the UK. Proven capacity to ensure that learning in the classroom is integrated into the workplace by combining a pragmatic approach and first hand experience in the hospitality, food manufacturing and retail sector. Reputation for translating regulatory terminology into practical language, enabling the guidelines and legislation to be relevant for the user. Proficient in conducting Food Safety and Health & Safety audits, compiling follow-up management reports and action plans for clients.

James Aldcroft

James has over a decade’s experience in delivering engaging, lively and useful training. His background positions him perfectly with an expertise in his subject areas, experience of delivering the services and the backing of a post graduate teaching qualification James worked in the catering industry (bakeries, restaurants, cafes and wine bars) in and around Brighton for many years before taking on the challenging and rewarding position of running a busy café set within a mental health centre. This combined the catering and hospitality skills picked up from the previous jobs with the experience of working in secondary schools and colleges. For the nine years James run the successful café and developed it into a training business as well as a food business. During this time he honed his skills in working with varied groups of people with many individual needs. James now focuses his time on delivering high quality training within many sectors including Catering, Hospitality and the Care sector. His portfolio includes First aid qualifications, Food Safety qualifications, Health and Safety as well as a Train the trainer course (Education and Training Award – previously known as PTLLS).Feedback from his courses always includes comments such as ‘fun’ ‘lively’ ‘thought provoking’ and ‘useful’.
